In the first half year of 2019, Group sales of MEDICLIN Aktiengesellschaft (MEDICLIN) of EUR 335.4 mill. were 4.3 % or EUR 14.0 mill. higher than in the comparable prior-year’s period. Sales in the post-acute segment rose by EUR 10.4 mill. or 5.3 % up to EUR 207.3 mill. The acute segment improved it sales by EUR 3.8 mill. or 3.3 % up to EUR 118.2 mill. Sales in the nursing care business area were close to the prior-year’s level.
The reported Group operating result for the first half year of 2019 amounts to EUR 6.1 mill. (1HY 2018: EUR 6.3 mill.). The segment result of the post-acute segment came out to EUR 9.4 mill. (1HY 2018: EUR 7.6 mill.) and the segment result of the acute segment came out to EUR -1.3 mill. (1HY 2018: EUR 1.2 mill.).
In the first six months of 2019 gross investments amounted to EUR 21.7 mill. (1HY 2018: EUR 19.7 mill.), pertaining mainly to the reconstruction and expansion of clinics and the acquisition of medical equipment. Capital expenditure is thus in line with the annual budget. Cash and cash equivalents as of 30 June 2019 amounted to EUR 19.3 mill. (31.12.2018: EUR 33.8 mill.). On average MEDICLIN employed about 10.244 employees in the first half year of 2019.
Outlook
The business performance to date and the outlook for the 3rd quarter, which is traditionally the strongest season in terms of sales and earnings, indicate that the Group will reach its targets for the 2019 financial year.
In the second half of 2019, the Management Board expects growing sales for the Group and a significantly better Group operating result, despite rising staff costs and raw materials and consumables used.
The Management Board expects that due to the legislator’s regulatory requirements, in particular expenditures for qualified staff will increase significantly in the current financial year.
