Turnaround achieved in 2005; Net result 7.7 million Euro after minus 15.8 million Euro in 2004
Frankfurt am Main, 30 March 2006 - At today's balance sheet press conference the Board of Management of MediClin AG has introduced the financial figures for the year 2005. „In 2005 we have successfully approached many topics and achieved the turnaround“, said Dr. Ulrich Wandschneider, Chairman of the Management Board of MediClin, at the conference. Also the financial year 2006 has started satisfactorily, he added.
Sales revenues increased by 12.4 million Euro or 3.5 per cent to the amount of 370.4 million Euro. More sales, cost management and rental relief have made a contribution to reach an operating result of 16.1 million Euro (previous year: minus 12.8 million Euro). The consolidated net result improved to 7.7 million Euro after minus 15.8 million Euro in 2004. The consolidated result of the previous year was burdened with 9.1 million Euro by goodwill depreciation. Earnings per share amount to 0.26 Euro (previous year: minus 0.53 Euro).
MediClin benefited of the cost saving and target-oriented efficiency improvement measures in the financial year 2005. Cost of materials developed with 76.1 million Euro adequate to the business development despite increased energy costs. Personnel costs amounted to 209.6 million Euro and were slightly below previous year's figure. Other operating expenses fell by 7.6 million Euro to 69.0 million Euro (previous year: 76.6 million Euro), due to a lowering in administration costs and mainly due to the less rental expenses. The cash flow of operating activities were 17.5 million Euro (previous year: 8.5 million Euro). Investments in 2005 amounted to 14.1 million Euro (previous year: 9.7 million Euro).
The number of full time employees was 5,248 (previous year: 5,298) at annual average.
