Offenburg, March 3rd, 2011 – In 2010 MEDICLIN Aktiengesellschaft (MediClin) has increased Group sales by EUR 16.6 million or 3.5% up to EUR 487.2 million (2009: EUR 470.6 million).
A preliminary Group-EBIT of EUR 16.9 million was achieved which was nearly on the previous year’s level (2009: EUR 17.0 million) despite high investments. The preliminary comprehensive income attributable to shareholders of MediClin AG amounts to EUR 10.0 million (2009: EUR 10.3 million).
In 2010 a total number of 2.5 million nursing day was provided and close to 121 thousand cases were treated. The occupancy rate of the Group was with 86.6% on a high level, nevertheless did not accomplish the previous year’s value (2009: 87.1%).
Result improved in the acute segment
Sales of both segments post acute and acute increased by 1.9% respectively 5.6%. The preliminary segment result of the post acute segment was on the previous year’s level; the preliminary segment result of the acute segment was clearly above previous year’s figure.
Material costs rose by 2.7% – the material cost quota was 22.6% (2009: 22.8%).
Personnel costs rose by 4.6%. The personnel cost quota was 54.8 % (2009: 54.2 %). The number of staff accounted in full time employees increased by 150 employees on average in 2010 and amounted to 5,984 full-time employees on average in 2010 (2009: 5,834 full-time employees).
Other operational expenses increased by EUR 2.9 million up to auf EUR 89.3 million (2009: EUR 86.4 million). Close to half of the increase resulted from higher maintenance expenses.
Investments (gross additions to property, plant and equipment) amounted to EUR 23.3 million EUR (2009: EUR 18.8 million).
The cash flow from operating activities was EUR 13.4 million (2009: EUR 32.3 Mio. EUR).
The balance press conference and the analyst conference will take place on March 24, 2011 in Frankfurt. As from that date the Annual Report 2010 will be available at www.mediclin.de.
