Beating heart surgery
To reduce the risk during coronary surgery, the OPCAB method (anesthesia in bypass operations on the beating heart without heart-lung machine) is gaining increasing importance. Consequently, a large proportion of bypass operations are carried out in this way at our hospital. It reduces the potentially damaging effect of extra-corporal circulation such as impairment of coagulation, hemolysis, systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and neurological deficiencies.
