Quality of results

A central focus for evaluating the quality of the medical treatment provided at MediClin is the quality of our results. This provides information about the success of the acute-care or rehabilitative medical treatment. We measure and evaluate the quality of results on multiple levels: This includes medically substantiated quality indicators and also systematic surveys completed by our patients.

Quality indicators for the evaluation of treatment results are based on the different quality assurance programmes in which our clinics participate. In addition, key internal quality indicators are also determined that allow the treatment results to be better evaluated. We publish selected key quality indicators for all of our clinics in the quality reports issued by the relevant facilities. We use this information to guarantee and optimise our treatment quality.

Specific instruments for the evaluation of core processes from a clinic and company perspective – alongside the classic reporting systems in the areas of human resources, costs and performance – include:

  • Systems for monitoring external quality indicators in acute care (QS-Monitor)
  • A reporting system for analysing and comparing selected indicators in rehabilitation (rehabilitation evaluation system: RBS)
  • Systematic measurement of results in rehabilitation with support from software tools from Cibait (iQ/5) – the company-wide internal audit system
  • The development of quality management evaluations or self-evaluations
  • The systematic monitoring of damage progression

A decisive factor for the evaluation of the Group’s own performance quality is also the clinic-wide comparison of quality indicators between facilities. This takes place both internally at MediClin (e.g. at the level of patient surveys) and also within the framework of external quality assurance.

In order to better orientate services to the requirements and expectations of patients, all MediClin facilities continuously carry our patient surveys. Furthermore, we also take part in patient surveys within the framework of external quality assurance programmes initiated by health care coverage providers.

In addition, we actively participate in new projects for the improvement of health care quality and for the evaluation of treatment quality. Examples of this are:

  • Participation in a pilot project from Techniker Krankenkasse in cooperation with the MDK-RLP for the evaluation of treatment quality.
  • The RMK project for the introduction of case classes for rehabilitation patients
